Columbus Sliders Name David Seckel as Head Coach Ahead of New MLP Season
Columbus, OH – April 11, 2025 – The Columbus Sliders, Major League Pickleball’s local franchise, are pleased to announce the hiring of David Seckel as the team’s new head coach. Seckel brings years of experience as a teaching professional and leader in the pickleball community and currently serves as Director of Pickleball at Pickle & Chill, the official training site of the Sliders.
A former professional pickleball player himself, Seckel spent six years competing on the pro tour before transitioning into coaching and player development. His experience as both a player and coach gives him a well-rounded perspective and a strong understanding of the demands at the sport’s highest level.
Known for his calm leadership style, strategic mind, and ability to connect with players at all levels, Seckel has played a key role in growing pickleball in the Midwest. His steady presence and deep understanding of the game make him a natural fit for guiding the Sliders into the upcoming MLP season.
Seckel also brings a unique connection to one of the team’s marquee players, CJ Klinger, who was recently acquired from the New York Hustlers. The two first connected when Klinger was just 12 years old, and they continue to train together at Pickle & Chill. They even earned a medal as a doubles pair at a professional tournament, an early sign of their strong chemistry.
David Kass, owner of the Columbus Sliders, expressed confidence in the hire:
“David Seckel has been a trusted figure in our pickleball community for years, and we’re excited to see him take on this leadership role. His thoughtful approach and knowledge of the game are exactly what this team needs as we continue to build our identity in Major League Pickleball.”
Seckel shared his thoughts on the new opportunity:
“I’m grateful for the chance to work with this group of athletes and represent the Sliders. We’ve got a strong foundation, and I’m looking forward to helping the team grow, compete, and keep getting better each time we step on the court.”
The Columbus Sliders will open their 2025 campaign at MLP Orlando, April 24–27, followed by their hometown event, MLP Columbus, May 1–4. Training and community events will be based at Pickle & Chill, where fans will have the opportunity to follow the team’s progress and get involved with the MLP excitement.
