Columbus, OH – July 15, 2024 – The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – The James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC –James), a leader in cancer research and treatment, together with Ohio State Sports Medicine, proudly announces a sponsorship with Pickle & Chill, the largest dedicated indoor/outdoor pickleball facility in the Midwest.

This relationship is not just about promoting cancer awareness and injury prevention. It's about empowering the community with knowledge. Through this initiative, we aim to educate the community on the importance of regular cancer screenings, personalized treatment options, and continued multi-discipline cancer research. Each month, we will provide valuable information on specific types of cancer. Ohio State Sports Medicine will be there to offer stretching techniques, video demonstrations, and support for hosted tournaments with sports medicine professionals. The goal is for our Pickle and Chill community to thrive on and off the court.

David Kass, owner of Pickle & Chill, emphasized the importance of encouraging healthy, active lifestyles through pickleball. “Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the country, and cancer remains one of the leading diagnoses and causes of death. Through this partnership, we can educate our community and help prevent cancer while supporting thousands of players each week in staying active and healthy through pickleball."

Pickle & Chill will host the inaugural APP Women’s Open from October 4-6, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. The tournament, which will be broadcast nationally, marks the beginning of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As the presenting sponsor, The James will use this APP Signature Event as a global platform for female competitors at all levels, highlighting the importance of breast cancer awareness.
